The Annual Idaho Kindergarten/1st Grade Teachers Conference provides an opportunity for teachers to share ideas, network with colleagues, and extend conference ideas to the classroom and home.  The focus for 2011 will again be on “Educating the Whole Child.”  Pre-school educators are invited to attend. Unless otherwise noted in the program, all sessions will address issues germane to more than one level.

Dr. Jonathan Brendefur

Dr. Brendefur  is

·         Boise State University Associate Professor of Mathematics Education in the department  of Curriculum, Instruction and Foundations Studies

Director of the Institute for Developing Mathematical Thinking (DMT).  The DMT model has been shown to be effective locally and is the driving force behind the Idaho Math Initiative.

·         Is Boise State University Coordinator of the Leadership Development Program, an innovative, non-traditional preparation program designed to develop leaders with the commitment and capabilities to lead schools where all students succeed.

Serves as an Associate Professor in the Curriculum, Instruction, and Foundational Studies Department where her research and scholarly activity focus on educational leadership development, rural education, and poverty—especially as it impacts education.

Share your projects/lessons/student work samples on the Idea Wall!

Every teacher has lessons that are a big hit with his/her students.  Bring in an idea you’d like to share with others.  We will post it on our Idea Wall at Morley Nelson ES for all to enjoy.  It may be a photograph of a favorite project or lesson, a sample of an art or writing project, or….  Use your imagination!
 

The Conference Registration Fee is $100.00 for both days, $50.00 for one day.

   The Registration Fee of $100.00 for both days or $50.00 for either Thursday or Friday includes a Continental Breakfast on Thursday and Lunch both days plus an Idaho ASCD annual membership at the special conference rate of $10.00.  Registrations must be in by 5:00 PM, Monday, September 19!  There will be no refunds for cancellations after Monday, September 26, 2011.

Lodging costs are not included in the registration fee.  A block of special conference price rooms will be available at the AmeriTel Boise Towne Square (7965 W. Emerald St., Boise) for $69.75 per room per night for either 2 queen or 1 king bed(s).  They have a hot breakfast buffet and an indoor pool.  Free shuttle service is available from the airport.  The deadline for obtaining this special rate will be September 21, 2011.
