Monday, March 11. Things are starting to slow down in the educational committees. This may mean there is an end in sight! Probably around the last week of March, or at least we can hope that will be the end of this legislative session. Today there is a new library bill being heard in House State Affairs. HB 384 will be brought again by Rep. Crane. Feb. 28. HB644 on setting up regional State Board Regions will be heard. Feb 26. There is an RS, several bills, and a resolution in House Ed this morning. An RS on school internet use, S 1274 Diversity Statements, H 634 Broadband, and the big one for us, HJR 2 Indebtedness, limits. HB 521 was just passed out of the full house. 61-6. Onto the senate.

Thursday, Feb. 22. House Ed is hearing a number of new RSs. Rep. Furniss is re-introducing his Super majority bill. Rep. Horman is introducing a bill that moves Broadband from the state board back to the SDE. Rep. Palmer is introducing a bill that may be of interest on libraries, school boards, and Hispanic Education. Happy Wednesday. It was a busy day yesterday. HB 521 Facilities moved out of Rev. and Tax committee and it is now headed to the full house. Today in House Ed will be three bills and an RS. Rep. House Ed will be meeting in the Lincoln Auditorium today to handle all the superintendents and board memberrs here for Day on the Hill. Happy President's Day. It will be a busy week down here at the State House. We should be hearing both H 447 tax credit (voucher) and H 521 Facilities sometime this week. Stay tuned for those two. School Boards also are hosting Day on the Hill today and tomorrow, so there will be lots of School Board members and Superintendent here as well. Today in house ed and Senate ed, there will be presentations by Ryan Cantrell on Data Driven Instruction as well as a presentation on AI. There are two new RSs in House Ed . Thursday, Feb. 15. House ed will be meeting at 9am MT. there are two RSs on the docket. One dealing with military leave for public school employees and on on teachers and corporal punishment. Happy Valentine's day! House Ed has three bills and two RSs up this morning. H 529 on charter school funding, H500 opportunity scholarship, H 539 School harassment and bullying. Feb. 7. Senate State Affairs will hear the new library materials bill at 8:00am MT this morning. It will be an RS today and is the combination of several other library bills that we have already seen printed this year. Tuesday, Feb. 6. We have a busy day in House Ed. There will be 4 bills heard today. HB 450 School District Activity Funds, HB 452 Digital Learning Academy, HB 454 Advanced Opportunity Scholarship, and HB 453 Board of education, regions. Cook is having his bill, SB 1253 dealing with establishing provisions requiring certain internet filters on computer devices used by children. Basically a switch that can be turned off on you tablets or phones that does not allow porn. While today may be a little slow, we anticipate the tax credit "voucher" bill to be heard this week, the facilities bill should run on Wednesday or Thursday, and the IETA conference is at the center on the Grove the end of the week.
