Feb. 7. Senate State Affairs will hear the new library materials bill at 8:00am MT this morning. It will be an RS today and is the combination of several other library bills that we have already seen printed this year. HB 450 School District Activity Funds, HB 452 Digital Learning Academy, HB 454 Advanced Opportunity Scholarship, and HB 453 Board of education, regions. Monday Feb. 5. Cook is having his bill, SB 1253 dealing with establishing provisions requiring certain internet filters on computer devices used by children. Basically a switch that can be turned off on you tablets or phones that does not allow porn. While today may be a little slow, we anticipate the tax credit "voucher" bill to be heard this week, the facilities bill should run on Wednesday or Thursday, and the IETA conference is at the center on the Grove the end of the week. Stay tuned, it will become a busy week!

House Revenue and Taxation Committee are hearing the RS on the tax credit for private schools. This will be the first Voucher attempt this year. It is being brought by Rep. Horman From Idaho Falls. It will pass as an RS and be given a bill number.

We oppose this legislation, local districts have the means to do this currently and we don't need legislation looking for a problem. January 16. House Ed and senate Ed are only showing rules presentations from the state Board of Education. HB 384 on libraries passed state affairs party wide vote despite the overwhelming number of people here against it. That bill will go to the full house. The other bill we are waiting to come up for a hearing is the charter bill, HB 386. We will keep you posted. Have a great day.
